Full description

Meet your guide at City Hall Square and walk through the charming cobbled streets of Toledo. Arrive at the Jewish quarter, where the 3 monuments that you will visit with your guide are located.  Discover why the Catholic Monarchs commissioned the fabulous Monastery St. John of the Kings in the 15th century. This exceptional church is a marvelous example of flamboyant gothic architecture, which was erected by the most popular architects at the time.

Admire El Greco’s masterpiece, The Burial of the Lord of Orgaz, where the artist portrayed the society of his time. Listen to the story behind this iconic painting in order to know why the Lord of Orgaz was honored by the saint while his body was being buried in 1323.

See the inside of The Old Synagogue named Santa Maria La Blanca. Inside its walls evokes the atmosphere of the city of the three faiths, where the Christians, Muslims, and Jews were able to coexist.

The entire tour was amazing! Jesus, our tour guide, did a remarkable job showing us the sites with excitement and passion, not to mention his English was perfect. I honestly wish that we had two days in Toledo because it’s that interesting. Know before you go: it’s best to train in, the parking situation is horrible. The wristbands they provide you give you all-day repeat access. The courtyard outside the cathedral is where you’ll meet the guide, just look for a white umbrella. Also, if you did drive in, go to Mirador. It’s the perfect picturesque location to see all of Toledo.

The tour was really good and our guide was excellent! She gave us a detailed tour of three important sights in Toledo and pointed out several others. She gave a particularly informative talk about the Jewish neighbourhood and it’s history. I highly recommend this tour.

Rachel/Raquel was a terrific guide, moving fluently from English to Spanish and back, quickly enough and in such short segments that she held our (English-only) attention throughout. Toledo is a beautiful city with a fascinating history; a good guide helps unlock the complexities of this unique place in the world's history.
