Full description

Experience the magic of the artic on this nighttime reindeer sledding day trip with a bus or van transfer Tromsø. Enjoy a traditional Sami dinner with reindeer herders while they tell you about their culture and their beliefs. Have the chance to spot the northern lights dancing above you.

Board your bus or van in Tromsø and embark on your artic adventure. Stop at a Sami camp and have a chance to feed the herd of around 300 wild reindeer who will eat from your hands. Feel the thrill of riding on a sled pulled by majestic reindeer.

Be invited for a cup of hot tea, coffee, or hot chocolate and warm up around the fire inside a candle lit gamme (traditional Sami hut). Taste a three course meal including bidos (a traditional Sami stew which is often served at Sami weddings and other special occasions) cooked over the open fire.

Join your hots in a lavuu (Sami tent) and gather round the fire to listen to stories about Sami culture. Learn what it is like to be a reindeer herder. Watch as your guide performs a joik (traditional Sami song).

Step outside to see if the northern lights appear above the reindeer camp. Return to your meeting point in Tromsø at the end your tour.

Very good experience for my 8 year old son and myself. Reasonable transfer in terms of duration (less than 30 minutes). My son was impressed by the reindeer, in large numbers, who came in groups around us to eat, to see fighting for who would access our bucket of food. The reindeer antlers were level with his face, which did not reassure him. The sleigh ride is quite limited, it is only 1 tour at the bottom of the "field" where the reindeer are. The availability of the guides, the food, the Sami explanations, the songs, the warmth of the huts where we drank and ate were great! on the other hand, a group of 50 people is a bit too much for an "authentic" outing.

The Sami people are incredible very knowledgeable and welcoming people with a unrivalled passion for the way off life . I went with my two daughters aged 16 and 20 they loved the interaction with the reindeer and the story of the Sami peoples way of life and their history. The trip is brilliant form start to finish.

Fun night for my family with 2 teens. We managed to see aurora boreal and it was beautiful. The reindeer sledding was ok but my kids loved the feeding where u can also pet them. The dinner was good and the story telling was nice too about local tradition and culture, the feeling of sitting down around the fire was cozy and nice. I think it is a fun and great experience to have and sth different than just chasing the light. We had ask many little trips around Tromso and this one completed the experience. I would recommend if.
