From Tromsø: Northern Lights Trip with Included Photos
- Small group
- Duration: 7 hours
Hop aboard a minibus and chase the spectacular Northern Lights with an experienced guide. Marvel at the rugged beauty of the Arctic as you explore.
After pickup in the city center, head towards the mountains, fjords, and valleys. Take the route best suited to the weather conditions with clear skies.
With the expertise of your guide, pursue the Northern Lights, sometimes as far as the Finnish and Swedish borders. Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience and savor the immense beauty of your surroundings.
Keep your energy up with some hot drinks and snacks, and prepare to take lots of photos on the trip. The guide will also take photos and share them with the group after the trip.
This was one of the most amazing experience I have ever had. The guides were very knowledgable and knew exactly where to go and stop for the best chance to see the lights. We were incredibly lucky that the lights were so active the night we went and the guides ‘chased’ them ensuring we had plenty of opportunities to see them & take pictures. The guide took outstanding pictures and emailed them to me a few days after the tour and helped us get the best possible pictures on our phones. At the end of the night we had hotdogs and marshmallows by the campfire which was nice. They also provided plenty of drinks/snacks along the way and polar suits which meant we stayed warm. The guides were lovely and there was a good atmosphere on the bus with plenty of music/chatting and it was comfortable. Couldn’t recommend enough especially for the price compared to others!
Begin by being picked up from your accommodation in the city center or the tour meeting point. From there, your guide provides you with information about the weather, the lights' activity, your chances for the evening, and expectations to see the lights on that particular night. From there you are taken to a location most suited to the evening's conditions. Groups are sometimes required to travel deep into Finland in order to find a good spot, so remember to take your passport with you. Once you have reached your chosen location, your guides set up a bonfire before helping you with your camera, setting it up to best capture the Northern lights. Throughout your tour, your guides also serve you hot chocolate and snacks. Later, enjoy a picnic-style barbecue during which you enjoy traditional Norwegian fiskekake (fish burgers), or sausages with tortilla bread. Make the most of thi...
The guide was helpful and really passionate about the northern lights and northern Norway in general, he made us feel that we didn’t need to hesitate about asking anything. We had a northern lights parade this night as well.Recommend this trip 100%.
Prior to every tour your experienced guides will have analysed weather predictions for the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights. With no two nights the same, your guides' enthusiasm and dedication never fades. Drive out into beautiful remote scenery in a custom built 4x4 tour van. Most of the time this is a shorter drive to the surrounding coastal islands of Tromsø, or if needed a longer drive into Finland. Upon reaching suitable skies, you will set up camp for the evening. Some nights the Northern Lights are visible en-route to location, and can last throughout the evening. Other nights require patience and positivity to witness a faint glow across the horizon. Even though the Aurora appears most nights, no forecast can predict what you are going to see, and it's all about taking chances. Staying comfortable on an Arctic winters night is essential. Warm up around the roaring ca...
Me and my girlfriend had an amazing experience. Hannah and Jeff did an incredible job from start to finish and we really had a good time. I highly recommend going with Hannah and Jeff for this magical experience.
Orcas and Humpback whales are in Skjervoy from November to January. The local provider will pick you up at 6:00 AM outside Scandic Ishavshotel, drive you to Skjervoy, give you warm flotation suits and take you on a once in a lifetime whale watching experience on Rib-boats. Enjoy sandwiches, tea and coffee and continue to the Green Gold Villa in the Lyngen Alps. Here you’ll get a nice and warm group dinner and short photo workshop. Experience the Northern Lights at night and photograph the incredible phenomenon right outside the Green Gold Villa. Accommodation is at one of six private Crystal Lavvos. Next morning, enjoy breakfast together before returning to Tromso at 11:00 AM.
It was the best of our trip this year. Amazing experience, scenery and polar light.
Sail from the Tromsø city center in the evening. Watch as the beautiful city lights fade into the distance and you enter the darkness of the Arctic Circle. Visit different locations, each one offering a different view of the northern lights. Experience the magic of the aurora borealis– the colors, the movement, and as northerners say, the sounds. Cruise in a comfortable high-quality and stable boat with both indoor and outdoor areas. Relax in the outdoor jacuzzi under the northern lights (available on the MS Leone & MS Strønstad boats) or in the onboard sauna (available on the MS Strønstad).
Great experience with super helpful guide and photographer. Very recommended. We got to see the northern lights and enjoy the jacuzzi.
This is an experience to feed the reindeer and go reindeer sledding in the nightime. You will also have a traditional Sami dinner with the Sami reindeer herders while they tell you about their culture and their beliefs. The reindeer and the Sami have been living and working on this land for centuries and they have only recently invited guests to be part of their daily life. After a 25-minute drive from the city center, you will visit their camp and have a chance to feed the herd of around 300 wild reindeer who will swarm all around and some will even eat from your hands. You will then be invited for hot drinks (tea, coffee, hot chocolate) around the fire inside a warm candle lit gamme (traditional Sami hut) where you will then be served a relaxed three course meal including bidos cooked over the open fire (a traditional Sami stew which is often served at Sami weddings and other special...
This was an amazing opportunity to meet the Sami people and learn about their culture, it gives you and incredible insight into reindeer farming and the new challenges they are facing with climate change. the reindeers are in great condition and not there to be used as a tourist trap, they are there for you to meet and learn about. the entire night was very well put together and educational. food was great too!
Experience the spectacular natural phenomenon of the Northern Lights just 30 minutes from downtown Tromsø at a husky camp where you will be served hot drinks and can grill marshmallows over an open fire. Go inside an authentic lavvo (Sami tent) while you wait for the lights to appear in the night sky. Then, lay down on reindeer skins in the great outdoors, or sit on the provided chairs while you scout the sky for the dancing lights. Your guide will answer any questions you may have. As a work of Mother Nature, there can be no guarantee that the Northern lights will appear, but visiting 200 Alaskan huskies with their puppies is well worth it! Enjoy a warm meal Norwegian style as your guide serves up a dish of bacalao made with tomato and Norwegian stockfish (cod).
Fantastic guide and company!! The food was great and we saw a spectacular lights show!!! I couldn’t have asked for more! I would 100% recommend this company!!!! DO NOT MISS IT! ❤️❤️❤️
Mush your own husky team on this unique dog sledding tour from Tromsø. Try something new and be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Arctic wilderness. Enjoy a convenient pick-up from the city center of Tromsø and head out to the wilderness center at Camp Tamok. Put on some warm winter clothing, meet the dogs, and learn how to drive the sled. Pair up with another person and share a dog team. Take turns driving the team while the other sits back and enjoys the scenery. Eat a hot meal in a traditional Norwegian setting at the end of your 90-minute dogsled adventure. Relax and warm up around an open fire in a reindeer herder's tent before heading back to the city.
Take in the atmospheric Arctic night in all its majesty, onboard a silent electric catamaran with 360-degree uninhibited panoramas. In warmth and comfort, cruise around Tromsø island, past snow-covered mountains, landmarks like the Arctic cathedral, and through icy waters. Watch as the crew launch an underwater drone with lights to discover the mysteries of the depths below. As the darkness of the ocean reflects the stars above, if you're lucky the Northern Lights may appear. Finally, soak up the unique atmosphere as you sit down to an Arctic Tapas dinner. Savor the fresh and local ingredients, based on traditional dishes with a modern twist.
Very nice meal. They provided us all from the starter, main course, and also the dessert. We really enjoy the peacefulness on the cruise and the guide always called us to watch the northern light when there were something happening outside the cruise.
This tour is led by a passionate, professional, experienced and easy going team that will take you to the most aesthetically pleasing spots. Before picking you up from the meeting place, your guide will carefully analyze the weather forecast in order to take you to the areas where the clearest sky is expected during that night. Tromsø is a great place to start the chase. It is located nearby many microclimates where the weather conditions vary from the ones in Tromsø. Once a proper location to observe the Aurora Borealis has been found, the bonfire begins. The menu consists of hot drinks, lamb or soy sausages, and cookies. Your group will be small so everyone can get to know each other, and you can get the most out of the experience. Thermal suits and heat packs are provided to make sure that you stay warm and cozy during the tour. Your guides are passionate about photography, especial...
It was a great experience chasing the northern lights! Our guide was Adrien, and he was knowledgeable about the weather and the places to catch the lights. We felt a little disappointed initially as we waited for close to 4 hours without seeing the lights (due to cloudy weather), but our guide felt that there was a chance to see the lights at where we were, hence we waited, and finally they appeared! We expected to see green lights (as what we always see in photos), but were surprised when the lights seen with the naked eye is more white/yellow. Nevertheless, it was a breath-taking sight and a wonderful experience!

What an amazing experience! Our guide Jeff made the best decision for this evening, where we saw amazing northern lights, even though the weather in Tromsø wasn't good! He also gave us yummy soup, cookies and tea/coffee. Next time we visit Tromsø, we will be back with this company!
A super great experience! Our guide Jeff gets a lot of praise! He fulfilled all of our wishes and ordered these extraordinary northern lights especially for us! A campfire and homemade soup, tea or coffee rounded off this extraordinary evening! THANKS VERY MUCH
A wonderful adventure through the fjords. We were able to see seals, small whales and the osprey in full fishing. A unique experience. Highly recommended.
It has been an essential excursion on our trip to Norway. Everything has been perfect and we were able to see many boreal authors
