Full description

Join this authentic experience at the wilderness center Camp Tamok, a 90-minute scenic bus drive away from the city center of Tromsø.

Upon arrival at the camp, you will first receive warm winter clothes and other required gear for this dogsledding activity. Your guide will then give thorough safety instructions and a practical demonstration on how to steer your own sled.

Once you are ready, you will embark on your journey: Two people will share one sled and a dog team. One is the "musher" (driver) while the other can sit back and enjoy the ride. (If your group includes children, please kindly note, that each child must be accompanied by an adult.)

You will get the chance to switch places midway during the 10-12 km dog sledding trail. Depending on snow conditions, you will spend up to 1 hour 30 minutes to complete it. After the tour, you will be served a hot meal in a traditional Northern Norwegian setting around the open fire in a reindeer herder's tent. After relaxing and warming up, your daytime sledding adventure has come to an end and it will be time to board the bus back to the city center of Tromsø.

Unforgettable experience ! Brilliant, great support, the guide was patient with the explanations, the equipment lent was very hot. The guide remained very considerate throughout the ride and allowed my 8-year-old son to ride in front with her for the last part of the route, which was flatter. We are in pairs on the sled (1 is seated, the other standing) It is indeed very sporty especially since my partner was my son who was not authorized to guide the sled. And yet I'm not very sporty and I got there, and without falling (I almost did!). It really has to be done. The meal was after, that is after 4 p.m. Note that the Tamok camp is 1h30 by road from Tromso. I highly recommend this experience!

It was our first time dog sledding. You definitely need to have a certain level of fitness to run up gently sloping hills, beside the dogs and sled, in order to help them get to the top. But it's all part of the fun and my husband and I had an amazing time, laughing and joking the whole way. Great guide and those Alaskan huskies are incredibly dogs. Lots of pets and cuddles after ☺️, followed by a hot stew and some banter in the smokey Sami tent before the coach ride home. Thank you for a great day out.

The sleigh ride was much shorter than advertised on the site… Apart from that, the dogs are magnificent, the ride is superb. You have to be able to run to help the dogs so if you have bad physical conditions to avoid The meal is delicious and in a good atmosphere
