Odda: Trolltunga Sunset Overnight Hiking Trip

1. Odda: Trolltunga Sunset Overnight Hiking Trip

Take an overnight hiking tour to Trolltunga, the Troll’s Tongue. See the sunset behind the stunning mountain scenery and enjoy the peace of having this famous natural attraction almost to yourself. Camp at the top and walk back down the following day.   The tour starts with a hike from Skjeggedal to Mågelitopp. Continue up the mountainside to Gryteskar for a spectacular view towards the Folgefonna Glacier. At Endenut you’ll settle in to your dome at a campsite not far from Trolltunga as the guide prepares a delicious dinner.   Afterwards, you’ll hike to Trolltunga. Enjoy the tranquility of the mountain as the sun disappears behind the Folgefonna Glacier. Head back to the dome to listen to Norwegian fairy tales. The next morning, enjoy breakfast with freshly baked bread. Then return to the starting point the same way you came.

From Skjeggedal: Guided Winter Hike to Trolltunga

2. From Skjeggedal: Guided Winter Hike to Trolltunga

In wintertime, all hikes to Trolltunga start on P2 parking in Skjeggedal. Normally, it is necessary to walk with micro spikes or snowshoes a large part of the tour, that is why the hike during this season is more challenging. On the way up here, we stop by in our base camp and leave our backpacks here. Ahead of us is only the last short stretch to Trolltunga.   As the evening closes slowly in, we meet the last hikers going down. Once we reach Trolltunga, we are alone out there. A scary thought? Not at all. Because you know where you are staying tonight. You can look forward to a cup of hot chocolate, a warming fire and a delicious dinner. Yes, it is cold outside, and it is getting dark early. But once we are back in the domes, you can always curl up in your fluffy sleeping bag. After a long day out in nature, all is left is to relax and enjoy the spectacular night skies. Be aware that the weather during the Norwegian winter is unpredictable, it can change at any time. This is nature, it is pure and real up here! But do not worry, your guides are educated in reading the mountain conditions and has a lot of experience in this terrain. Your safety is our priority! That is why on the iciest days, we cannot guarantee that it will be safe to go down on the rock itself. We will make sure to show you alternative and equally beautiful photo spots and that you will feel like a true explorer after this overnight expedition.

Good organization, nice guides, up with the shuttle bus, unfortunately not back, we at 60 and 65 years did not find this 3.5 km serpentine road good at all and assumed that we would take the shuttle bus back. The tour to Trolltunga was super nice, adventurously interesting and was fun, great experiences and a mega experience sleeping in a huge tent with a view, we were well looked after, since we hardly speak English, some of our hiking group translated it for us. Back the tour was more strenuous, especially the last part of the route. We liked it and it was right to spend a night there on Trolltunga. We're also proud of the fact that almost all of us met young people. An experience that we will remember for a long time.

Kudos to our committed and professional guides - especially meilo with whom we went on the trip. Great knowledge and a pleasant personality. The trip was well organized and the conditions in the dome perfect - this makes up for the trouble with the level of information before the trip. I would have liked to have known more about the equipment and had the correct meeting time for the information meeting informed by mail. The logistics system around parking works very well - we would have liked to have been informed before the last minute. All in all excellent trip.

The trolltunga sunset overnight tour exceeded our expectations! The views were amazing, the dome was great, the food was delicious and our guides were phenomenal (shout out to Hanne, Ingrid, Jonas). As for the hike, it was really great. Very manageable. I would say moderate in intensity. I do think breaking it into two days and having the benefit of seasoned guides made all the difference! I would highly HIGHLY recommend the hike AND rec the guides and the overnite. It was the highlight of our trip to Norway! Hiked 8/8/22 w my husband and teen boys.

Great team that went out of their way to make the experience special for everyone. I highly recommend the overnight stay as it lets you have a proper immersive experience at TrollTunga

Amazing experience! The hike itself and the guided tour by Trolltunga Active were above the expectation. I totally recommend it.
