After a cleansing ritual, the dead body is placed in a bamboo cage, locally known as ancak saji, which is placed under the Taru Menyan tree. Taru Menyan means nice smelling tree and it emanates a scent that neutralizes the smell of rotting bodies. It is from this tree that the name Trunyan is derived. It is only the bodies of married people that are placed in bamboo cages.  Continue your tour and visit another ancient village called Bayung Gede, which is believed to be the parent of all of the ancient villages in Bali. Many people come here to see the hanging newborn placentas that are unique to Bayung Gede. In Trunyan, bodies of the dead are laid on the ground unburied but here it is the placenta that is unburied. This is the only village in Indonesia that does this. Your journey will not be completed without a visit to Kehen Temple, which is a significant Hindu Temple in Bali. It is located on the slope of Bukit Bangli, which is believed to be the mother temple of Bangli. This trip was the highlight of my holiday! Yogi our guide was very prompt and he made the whole trip fun, learnt so much about balinese culture and it felt a very personal experience beeing in a small group of three. The hidden canyon experience was amazing but i must say people must be prepared with water shoes and ready for an adventure. The guide taking us on the hidden canyon was very good and made us feel safe, also took all our pictures. We asked Yogi to drop us for lunch by a less tourist rice plantation, nothing was any trouble for him, enjoyed very much the peaceful lunch . The two temples we visited were quite different, full of interesting history and in most beautiful settings. I did not go down to the waterfall but was happy to just sit at the top and watch the others. Yogi was a great driver and had a great sense of humour, loved all of us singing on the way back. I highly recomend this trip.

Fantastic experience especially for our driver / guide Iwayan Kar, he was truly unique, he recommended places to visit and took us even if they were not planned. He explained to us in great detail the Balinese culture and the in-depth history of each place we visited, as if that were not enough he offered us water and coffee because he saw us a little tired. The tour is beautiful, super organized, not at all tiring and led us to meet a really nice person. Thanks again Iwayan Kar !!

Wayan was the most amazing tour guide and took us to everything we wanted to see on the tour list. The monkey forest, the rice terraces, waterfall and craft village were all amazing! The perfect half day experience!

Great tour! We saw so many beautiful places. Our guide was very friendly and nice, he told us a lot of interesting facts and answered all of our questions. Totally recommend!

Our guide Strawberry was one of the best guides we’ve ever had doing a tour. He went above and beyond to make our day fun.
