On this half-day tour you'll relive scenes from one of the most popular movies of all time. Visit the locations used during the filming of The Sound of Music in Salzburg and its surrounding countryside. During the tour, you’ll also hear songs from the original soundtrack. Your knowledgeable English-speaking guide will show you the architectural and historical landmarks of the city and the picturesque Lake District. You’ll visit Leopoldskron Palace, a place whose exterior was used as the Trapp family home and where the children were seen boating on the lake and jumping into the water. Maria was a novice at Nonnberg Abbey, the oldest convent in German-speaking Europe, and your next stop. The St. Gilgen and Lake Wolfgang scenes shown at the beginning of the movie were actually filmed at Lake Fuschl, on the way to St. Gilgen, which you'll also see today. The wedding scene was filmed at Mondsee Cathedral, a buttery yellow-and-white edifice where you'll stop on the tour. Maria, led by Liesl, walked down the aisle to meet the baron in front of the stairs of the main altar. After dropping you off in Salzburg at the end of the tour you can visit Mirabell Gardens, located just opposite the tour terminal. Maria and the children were seen dancing through the Gardens singing Do-Re-Mi.

This 4-hour tour of the famous movie’s locations whisks you around the historical city of Salzburg, then departs for the breathtaking mountainous landscape of Salzkammergut. Traveling with, Albus, the company involved with the original filming, you will be guided around The Mirabell Gardens – where the famous “Do-Re-Mi” singing scene took place – and the 17th-Century Hellbrunn Palace, where Rolf and Liesl sang "16 going on 17," and Maria and the Baron sang “Something Good.” Heading for the mountainous landscape of Salzkammergut, you will stop off at the idyllic Palace of Leopoldskron, the Benedictine monastery of Nonnberg Abbey, Lake Wolfgang, and the cloister church in Mondsee, where Maria walked down the aisle to meet the Baron at the altar. As well as providing a glimpse into a timeless movie, the tour also takes in many other local pieces of history and culture along the way.

Situated at the northern boundary of the Alps, the Baroque city of Salzburg boasts a glorious natural setting. On this 5.5-hour trip you will experience both city and countryside in a fusion of 2 popular tours, covering both the historic city center and the lakes and mountains that surround it. First you will experience the city that gave us Mozart and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Starting from the early 17th-Century Palace of Mirabell, you will get a 90-minute tour that includes the Mozarteum (University of Music), one of the world’s most prestigious music academies, the Marionette Theatre, and Mozart’s Wohnhaus, where the composer lived for many years. Cross over the Salzach River, once a major transport route, to enjoy magnificent city views, before following the river along part of the old fortifications and past the Law Courts to Hellbrunn Palace. On the way back to the city center you will pass the Palace of Frohnburg and the Nonnberg Abbey, situated beneath the impressive Hohensalzburg Fortress. In the Old City you will pass by the Festival Halls, Old University, and Blasius Church, before finishing at Mozart Square. The route takes you to St Gilgen, birthplace of Mozart’s mother, located on Wolfgang Lake. Returning towards Salzburg, drive past the picturesque Krottensee and Castle of Hüttenstein, before continuing along the shores of the Mondsee (Moon Lake), through the town of the same name. You will be dropped back at a central location in Salzburg to continue your day at leisure. The tour also includes a ticket for the public bus lines numbers 1 through 28 on the day of your trip.

Slip into traditional miners’ clothes and take the miners’ train deep into the mountain. The enormous success of The Sound of Music Broadway Musical by Rodgers & Hammerstein premiering in 1959 caused film director Robert Wise and 250 crew members to turn Salzburg and its surroundings into the Sound of Music film location in 1964.   Right after release, the film became a tremendous success, awarded with 5 Oscars, becoming the highest grossing movie ever and reaching cult status over the years. Both the musical and film are based on the "The Story of the Trapp Family Singers" written by Maria von Trapp in 1949.  Do follow the traces of the Trapp family and take a tour through Salzburg and its surroundings. 7. Eagle's Nest and Sound of Music Private Tour

This 9-hour Tour combines the original locations from the world famous musical "The Sound of Music" with the historical "Eagle's Nest". Your tour starts with a tour of the city including the Palaces Leopoldskron (von Trapp Family House) and Hellbrunn (Sound of Music Pavilion). Hellbrunn Palace is on the way to the Eagle's Nest which will be next. Passing the border to Germany the journey continues to the Sound of Music Meadow (The Hills are alive). Now is your chance to spin in the field, reenacting the opening scene. And further on we go to the "Obersalzberg" which is located at 3000 ft. elevation right below the Eagle's Nest. From that historical point you will access the Eagle's Nest with special busses and elevator. The very scenic view to the Bavarian Mountains, the King's Lake and the surrounding area of Salzburg will be an everlasting memory of your holiday. Returning from the Eagle's Nest continue to the second highlight of our tour, the "Salzburg Lake District". Without returning back to Salzburg the tour continues straight to the Wies Valley and further on to Fuschl and St. Gilgen. Take a stunning photo of the castle of Fuschl with emerald Lake Fuschl in the background. The next highlight is Lake Wolfgang and the village St. Gilgen, the scenery of the area was shown at the beginning of the "The Sound of Music Film" and also Panorama Shots were made here. Enjoy a view from the "Mozart View Point" to Lake Wolfgang and the "Schafberg" Mountain. Maria and the children were using the rack-railway to the "Schafberg" when going from the city to the picnic site. Capture a picture of the lake from that great view point before you will continue to your last stop. Relax and enjoy the lovely countryside on the drive from St. Gilgen to the lake "Mondsee" further on to the town of Mondsee with the "Sound of Music Wedding Church", from where you make your way back to Salzburg. Your tour ends with a drop off at your Salzburg hotel or any other location within the city of Salzburg.

The 1965 musical The Sound of Music was a worldwide hit, using stunning settings that were as captivating as the storyline itself, and this tour gives you the chance to explore some of them first-hand. After breakfast at one of the film sites — the Leopoldskron Palace — you will see the gazebo in the gardens of Hellbrunn Palace, and take a tour of the actual Villa Trapp. The tour continues to the picturesque alpine village of Werfen, where you will follow in Maria’s footsteps on the Sound of Music hiking trail, where the famous opening scene was shot, with its breathtaking views. A journey to the impressive lake and mountain region of the ‘Salzkammergut’ with its stunning landscapes – incl. boat cruise (May to October) across the beautiful Wolfgang Lake. With this tour we will enchant you with the ‘Land of Music’. Travelling via Hof and Fuschl our first stop will be in St Gilgen before travelling a little further on to St Wolfgang.
