Our guide, Peter, was absolutely delightful and so knowledgeable. He went above and beyond, playing excerpts from the movie that he had put together so that we could relate to what we were seeing. It was organized, not rushed and really just a wonderful day. We usually don’t do tours and have to say it was one of the best memories from our two week trip in Central Europe. Also a shout out to our great drive Evo! (Not sure I spelled that correctly) have his hot spiced wine, better than the market.
Okay, I was expecting a cheesy tour, but was I ever wrong. I’ve loved “The Sound of Music” since it came out in 1965. But I learned so much about the movie that I had no idea about. This tour was amazing and we really saw a lot of the places where they filmed. I’ve been to Salzburg many times over the years and never took this tour, but I’m so glad I did this time. Anyone who enjoyed the movie should take this tour—it was really wonderful! You’ll see the movie again with new eyes.
This tour will give you a good orientation to the city and surrounding area. If you watched the Sound of Music as a child you get to relive the memories on site. It is a great tour if you are in the city for a short while.
