Punta Cana: Whale Whatching Sanctuary Experience

1. Punta Cana: Whale Whatching Sanctuary Experience

After having been collected from your accommodation, you will begin your day out on the water to watch whales in their natural sanctuary.  You will visit a beautiful natural area aboard a certified boat out in the privileged waters of Samaná and Miches Bay. The whale watching sanctuary in Samana Bay is the winter home of a sea giant, an acrobat of the sea: the humpback whale. From January to March, these waters are their stage and refuge as they come here to give birth to their young or to find a partner to perpetuate their species through further generations. Expert guides will take you to enjoy this natural wonder aboard boats that are specially designed for this activity. As you observe these enormous and majestic beings (which can reach 53 feet in length and 40 tons in weight), you will learn more about their biology, ecology and behavior.

What people are saying about Uvero Alto

This combination excursion was well-planned and executed. As noted, it is a very long day. You get to see the real DR. The only negative is that communication prior to arrival on what to expect was lacking. Some didn't know about the horse ride to the waterfall. This is not a horseback ride on the beach - it's up a mountain on a narrow, rocky, and very muddy/slippery trail. The horses are led by local guides who walk up and down this trail with regularity. Come to find out they work for tips only and though they certainly earn it providing local knowledge and taking pictures for you, we did not know to bring cash and could not leave them much. There are also 250 steps to climb on foot back from the waterfall. Not all were fit enough to make this trek. Recommend bringing a snack as lunch is pretty late. They do stop at a store for restrooms and souvenirs which sells some snacks/drinks. Overall would highly recommend (whales were awesome!), but not for children or elderly.

Please do this excursion! One of my top 5 excursions in the world. Seeing the whales in their natural habitat was breath taking. Our tour guide, Carlos was amazing and extremely knowledgeable. He held the tour in 4 languages, Spanish, English, Italian and French EFFORTLESSLY!!! The lunch at cayo alto was great and the beach there for relaxation is absolutely beautiful. The ride from cap cana was roughly 2 hours but it goes by so fast as the ride there and back is beautiful. Highly recommend this excursion.

Eco-Adventures canceled the tour on February 20th. executed. Good information before the tour, on time, well organized, well-spoken guide. Considerate handling of the boats with the whales. Recommended at any time.

Excellent organization of the tour, Justine from Dominican Atittude was fantastic, very professional and cheerful, always attentive to everyone, especially during the snorkeling. I strongly recommend!

We had a great experience! Would definitely recommend!!
