2 Day South Coast Tour with Glacier Hike & Boat Tour

1. 2 Day South Coast Tour with Glacier Hike & Boat Tour

Begin by visiting the two great waterfalls of the south coast, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, as well as visiting the lesser known, more secret waterfalls of Glufrabui, Kvernufoss, and Irafoss. You will stop so that you can buy lunch. Drive under the great Eyjafjallajökull glacier volcano and the Mýrdalsjökull glacier cap, where you will take a glacier hike for about 1.5 hours and have a closer look at the Solheimajokull glacier. A bit further is the great Reynisfjara beach, where the sea crashes upon black sands and hexagonal basalt columns and rock stacks tower over the surroundings. You will be staying overnight in a very cosy accommodation, close to the famous Seljalandsfoss. On the second day you will take a closer look at majestic glaciers and lagoons. After a stop in the lovely village of Vik, you drive to visit the waterfall Foss á Sidu and the National Park in Skaftafell, where you will stop to buy lunch. Then you head to the amazing Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon where you will have an amphibious boat tour, sailing on the lagoon. The lagoon is full of huge chunks of ice which crack off Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier and float slowly out to sea. Some icebergs wash onto the shore, lying on the vivid black sand like diamonds on satin. There is a good possibility of seeing seals swimming around the huge icebergs. After enjoying this wonderful experience, you will head back in the afternoon towards Reykjavik.

From Reykjavik: South Coast & Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon

2. From Reykjavik: South Coast & Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon

Follow the south coast of Iceland to the glacial lagoon, Jökulsárlón, on a full-day tour from Reykjavik. Visit the Seljalandsfoss waterfall and learn about the incredible landscapes from your guide. Depart from Reykjavik in an air-conditioned bus and pass charming villages as well as Skaftafell National Park on your way to the Seljalandsfoss and Skógarfoss waterfalls. Look out for Iceland’s biggest volcano, Öræfajökull glacier. After arriving at the lagoon, enjoy some time to view this stunning area. Take a walk along the shore and admire the icebergs. During the summer season, amphibian boat tours on the lagoon are available at an extra cost (payable onsite). Jökulsárlón started to form in the early nineteen twenties and is getting bigger every year. You will see many amazing blocks of ice that have broken off Europe’s biggest glacier, Vatnajökull, as they sail slowly towards the ocean which is only a kilometer away. The tour returns to Reykjavik in the evening.

What people are saying about Vatnajökull National Park

It was an awesome experience , I still have another 4 days in Iceland but I’m worried that I did the best first ;) was beautiful , some of the videos I took is like a nature documentary I booked this tour and was super excited. But it managed to beat my expectations. The diamond beach , the glacier hike and the boat tours were amazing as well the canyons and waterfalls Our guide David was super awesome, he did bunch of Extra stops as well just for us. He was very professional during the glacier hike and it was super smooth and amazing . I can’t say enough good things about the tour and the guide. I liked nicetravel so much that I canceled one of my tours and I booked another tour with them Also the minibuses are modern and they all have usb chargers and wifi I’m a solo traveler so I was a bit worried about the shared bed and breakfast situation , it turned out that getyourguide didn’t update their website and you just get a single room with private bathroom covered

We had a fantastic time with Valþór, he went over and beyond what we hoped of the trip taking us to places well off the beaten track. The jeep we were in was incredible, so much so we couldn’t help but feel a little smug after seeing the mini buses with hoards of people in. Booking a private tour was the best decision we made and his knowledge of Iceland was excellent. We had an amazing time and would strongly recommend spending the extra and having a private tour with Valpor. Thank you again!

It's a very long day, but worth it ro see the spectacular Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. The boast ride on the lagoon is not included, but I would highly recommend adding it to this trip.

Fantastic trip, nothing was to much trouble for the guide, an amazing experience :) Only issue was the Black Death, blew me tits off!

Perfect trip for sightseeing. We, family of 7, had an Amazing day.
