Wonderful walking tour and very informative guide! I loved exploring the small alleys and hidden squares. We started at San Marco Square and saw the Basilica and saw the Doge's Palace. After that we went down little alleys and saw the behind the scenes Venice. We walked to the Rialto Bridge and back to San Marco Square enjoying the beautiful views of canals and bridges.

All right, but not mandatory

The mass start took place at St. Mark's Square, where the different groups were divided by language and tour. That took time, and my booked 2 hour tour ended after 1.5 hours, because the other half hour was for guests with an additional booking ;-) ... our guide was a real, somewhat older Venetian, whose experience then tore out a lot again Has. Conclusion: good, but not essential.
