As an expressive arts teacher I absolutely loved this museum - I wish we had something like this in Dundee! The interactive exhibits were superb and the museum has lots to offer adults as well as children. There were some local children at the museum with their teacher on the day of my visit and p,entry of enjoyable activities for them to participate in. The museum has 4 floors, each with a different musical focus, from famous Austrian composers through the ages, an interactive activity conducting a Viennese orchestra, the science behind sound and musical instruments, and many other exhibits. I spent over 4 hours in the museum and didn’t even notice the time passing! Well worth a visit.

Our family really enjoyed the Haus der Musik. Many interactive exhibits, as well as a wide variety of musical knowledge to impart, made for a fun few hours in Vienna. Each floor has a different musical theme and there’s more information there than we could digest in an afternoon. Highly recommend for families and all music lovers.

Very interesting, but sometimes poorly described

The House of Music is very interesting and informative; Unfortunately, it is sometimes poorly or not at all described how the individual experiments work. In addition, the numbers for the audio guides are often not to be found or mixed up on the 3rd floor (at the Grand Masters). But despite everything, the Haus der Musik is an absolutely recommendable activity!
