From Santiago: Valparaiso and Viña del Mar Day Tour

1. From Santiago: Valparaiso and Viña del Mar Day Tour

Starting from your hotel in Santiago, meet your guide and travel 120 km to the Pacific Ocean through the Curacavi Valley where you will have the chance to see diverse scenery. On the road, stop in the typical hostelry Millahue for the chance to taste the typical Chilean drink, the "chicha". Arrive in Valparaiso and admire the amazing houses on the hills. Take a sightseeing tour of Victoria Square, Sotomayor Square, the naval heroes monument, and the May 21st Lookout. Take a walk into the hills, using 1 or 2 elevators or explore the bay area. Next stop in Viña del Mar, the city known as the Garden City. Explore some remarkable locations in the resort town including the floral clock, the Casino, and Reñaca beach where you'll have time to stop for lunch at your own expense. After lunch, spend a bit more free time to enjoy relaxing on the beach. Finally, before taking the coast road back to Santiago, stop at the Quinta Vergara, a place known for the international song festival. At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel in Santiago.

Private Tour: Premium Undurraga Vineyard Experience

2. Private Tour: Premium Undurraga Vineyard Experience

Take a trip to the Undurraga Vineyard on this 4-hour private guided tour from Santiago. Walk through the grounds to get to know the landscape and learn about the Mapuche people, native to the area. Taste wines, cheese, and dried fruits before taking the time to browse the gift shop. At the prearranged time in the morning or afternoon, meet your guide in the lobby of your hotel in the Providencia, Las Condes, Vitacura, or Santiago Centro neighborhood. Board the van and head out for the Undurraga Vineyard, about 40 minutes south. In 1903 Undurraga Vineyard became the first Chilean vineyard to export to the United States and later in 1930, started exporting to all Latin America. Start the tour at the Undurraga family park, the Aliwen corner, to become familiar with the culture of the Mapuche, one of Chile’s numerous indigenous groups. While in the Aliwen corner, you will see the typical vegetation of southern Chile, as well as tall ceremonial carved wooden sculptures that are unique to the Mapuche culture.  Next visit the underground cellars of Fundo Santa Ana de Talagante to have a tasting of four premium reserve wines, accompanied by cheese and dried fruits. You can keep your wine tasting glass as a souvenir.  Afterward, take some time to shop around in the wine store and purchase some wine or more souvenirs. Your tour concludes with a drop-off back in Santiago. Please note that a minimum of three people per booking is required.

The bus arrived on time for the pick-up and the tour of Valparaiso (“Valpo” according to our guide, as the Chileans will shorten anything they can) was interesting - particularly the street art. You do need to be able to walk down steps for this part of the tour. Unfortunately, 2 members of the group went AWOL (no fault of the guide), so we lost some time waiting for them and our tour of Vina was somewhat curtailed. Our driver also had to take a diversion on the way back to avoid the road closures in Santiago.

José Luis as a tour guide and Bernardo as a driver were excellent, they shared a lot of information about it, they gave us typical desserts, we listened to local music, they explained the street arts to us, we were even able to appreciate how they painted one and they took us to eat at a good place. In addition to complete explanations about Viña del Mar

Very enjoyable day out. Lots of information from a very knowledgeable guide. Walking tour of a hilly area of Valparaiso with some wonderful street art. Lunch on the beach in Viña del Mar was very good and on the way back to Santiago a stop at a vineyard with stunning views and even more stunning wines!

We were picked up from our hotel on time, then our guide joined us. We were the only guests and the guide told us a lot about the country and its people. He answered all of our questions and accompanied us perfectly through the day. Everything was beautiful, we would book it again and again.

Joseph and Francisco were awesome! Fantastic locations, good food and the guides were incredibly hospitable and always happy to answer any questions
