Full description
Meet your guide at your accommodation and travel on foot, by public transport, or by taxi to the city center. Begin your walking tour at the luxurious building of the railway station of Voronezh. The surrounding station square and buildings are a complete Stalinist architectural ensemble. Walking from the square to the center, pass through the central park Pervomaisky garden and see the white-stone Annunciation Cathedral. Then, go to the main street, Revolution Avenue, where you can see a lot of preserved old buildings. The South-Eastern Railway, which is an architectural card of Voronezh. The 18th-century governor’s palace, which now houses the Kramsky Museum of Fine Arts. The famous Voronezh Palace, one of the best baroque buildings in the Russian province.  Go down to the Voronezh river to see one of the oldest monasteries in the Voronezh region, Akatov-Alekseevsky monastery. Then, return to Revolution Avenue and continue exploring the historic district of the city with the many 19th-century apartment buildings, the original puppet theater building, and the 18th-century theater. Walk through the crooked steep alleys to the oldest of the remaining bridges in Voronezh, the 19th century Stone Bridge. Pass the old houses and churches as you go down the main staircase to the Voronezh River. From here you can explore Petrovsky Island, where Peter 1st built the first Russian Admiralty. Here, on the bank of the Voronezh River, your walking tour will end and you will be able to continue exploring the city on your own.
