ARTECHOUSE DC was the first ARTECHOUSE location to open. Located just off the National Mall and nearby Smithsonian museums, ARTECHOUSE DC brings a new kind of art experience to the nation’s capital.

Experience the nation’s first multi-sensory innovative art destination with evolving immersive exhibits by artists who intersect art, science, and technology. See experiential large-scale installations and witness creative innovation without limits in unique art spaces designed for curiosity-seekers of all ages.

Download the ARTECHOUSE XR App (download information found in your confirmation voucher) and use it to enrich your experience while exploring the digital playgrounds. Staff is on-hand to explain the uses of the app during your visit.

Transient: Impermanent Paintings by Quayola (January 17 – March 6, 2022):

This exhibition by Italian multimedia artist Quayola is an immersive journey into artistic process, inspired by music and traditional painting techniques. This groundbreaking exhibit is a series of audiovisual paintings which employ technology as a lens to explore music for the 21st-century audience and rethink the traditional artistic techniques in the context of human-machine relationships.

    Know before you go

    • Tickets are purchased for individual hour-long sessions. When space allows, visitors are welcome to remain past their hour-long session
    • Children ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult
    • Sessions after 7 PM offer only tickets for guests over 16 years old
    • Installations are highly immersive and some may use strong lighting effects as well as loud surround sound
    • Due to the complex technology employed, the installation may require unplanned maintenance; this may result in delays for visitors or in the cancellation of a visit. If it is not possible to reschedule a delayed or canceled visit, a full refund on the price paid for tickets will be issued, but no further compensation will be paid
