We had an amazing experience. First time walking through the bush with an infrared torch let alone in a wildlife sanctuary. Unfortunately we weren't lucky enough to spot a kiwi but we heard them calling nearby. We did see very active tuatara, including one that walked right past us on the path and so many glow worms all through the bush. The night calls were also lovely to listen to.

Really enjoyed walking through the forest and seeing a range of creatures. Katie was very informative and we worked well as a group. I was so delighted to watch a kiwi foraging for worms and it walked across the path quite close to where I was standing.

The night tour of the sanctuary was an exeperience not to be missed, going with no expectation I was pleased to see the passionate work carried out to help re-establish the natural environment of fauna & flora that existed in the region prior to mans intervention. Our guide was informative on the night and helped us understand what was nessesary to protect the area for years to come. Seeing some highly endangered birds, reptiles and to see the elusive small spotted kiwi was indeed a highlight.
