Learn more about the ancient history of Sardinia on a tuk-tuk tour. Learn more about archaeological sites with an audio guide and local driver, where you will gain a deeper understanding of the island and its various inhabitants throughout the centuries. First, visit The Basilica of San Simplicio which is an imposing Romanesque church made entirely of granite and dates back to the 11th and 12th centuries. Then, admire the remnants of a Roman aqueduct located outside Olbia. A masterpiece of engineering for its time, this site represents the significant impact the Ancient Romans had on the island. Not far from the aqueduct is the Roman Cistern, used for the conservation of rainwater. Visit the sacred well known as "Sa Testa" which dates back to the Nuragic era at the end of the Bronze Age. Continue to the Castle of Pedres perched on a small rock hill a few kilometers outside Olbia, which was an important defensive stronghold during medieval times. Finally, admire the ancient "Tombs of the Giants" common burial ground, which is the largest of its kind on Sardinia standing at 28 meters high.

What people are saying about Castello di Pedres

A wonderful tour by tuk-tuk (definitely bring a jacket and a hat depending on the weather) with very interesting places and facts about the history of Sardinia. Our driver Alessio got us around all the potholes well and we had enough time to look at every point. With the audio guide over loudspeakers (German) it worked great. And the communication with Alessio in English was also very good. Thank you again for the wonderful day.

A good way to explore Olbia, taking you to all the main archaelogical sites. Guides do not rush you at the sites, although we would have liked to get more information or a bit more in depth explanation of the sites. Highly recommended!
